DB Kettle Consulting Ltd was formed in 2005 as a civil engineering and landscape architectural consultancy. We have a passion for more sustainable solutions for our built environment which promote better social, environmental and economic outcomes for all.
David Kettle is the director, a Chartered Professional Engineer with 35 years of experience in civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering. The first 20 years primarily in civil and geotechnical engineering in Canada, USA and New Zealand. Since 2000 David has focussed on stormwater management in the context of a ‘Water Sensitive Design’ approach in the Auckland Region.
David has experience working across all areas of planning, design and construction. He has acted as an expert witness on stormwater issues in planning hearings and for Environment Court proceedings. In 2006 he completed his PhD through the Auckland School of Architecture and Planning on sustainable urban 3-waters infrastructure (stormwater, water supply and wastewater) frameworks and decision-making process.

Betsy Kettle is the principal landscape architect with 35 years of experience in landscape architecture and environmental education.
She was the campus landscape architect Maharishi International University for 10 years and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects from 1984-1994 prior to moving to NZ.
Since 1996 Betsy has focussed on creating sustainability education/tutoring workshops, field trips and open days. Projects include the Urban Permaculture Demonstration Home, the Beachlands/Maraetai Resource Depot, ACE courses at tertiary institutions, and tutoring for NZQA courses for Northtec. In 2014 she completed a Masters in Landscape Architecture incorporating adult education into the design of community based resource recovery facilities.
